Matariki is the the Maori new year
Maori used kites to celebrate Matariki the Maori name for kites is Manu. Humans grow crops and harvest the crops. Family and friends share kai. Matariki is a time to share kai. Matariki is a time to celebrate.
In New Brighton we are having fireworks to celebrate Matariki.
